Shalom from Jerusalem :)

Well, here I am drinking coffee in my room at JUC. Although it took longer than anticipated, I finally made it here. I am really tired, but things have been great so far. My flight was long but easy, and the people I have met here are very nice. I’ll give you a few highlights in order to save you from the abundant travel details that would most likely put you to sleep…

-There were four others on my flight that are at JUC, so I didn’t have to travel alone!
-I have three roommates who are all very nice. My room is probably the best one ever because it has big windows, is directly across from the dining hall, is a few doors down from the bathroom, and is possibly the only room with wireless internet.
-I got to walk around the old and new cities yesterday, and it was amazing. I am so excited to have time (months) to explore instead of only a few days.
-A group of us talked to a shop owner (who loves JUC students) in the Old City for quite a while. He brought chairs in for us and gave us tea. We were on a scavenger hunt, so he decided to help us and led us around the Old City to find what we needed. It was so fun J
-The contrasting cultures and religions here is amazing. It is so obvious everywhere – from women who are almost completely covered to Jewish orthodox priests with their beards and hats to the people who are dressed similar to Americans.

More to come. J
